The one thing this administration has done that is so much at odds with the ones which came before is that it has embraced as assets all of the negatives (apathy, ignorance, fear, envy, etc.) that its predecessors have tried to reduce or eliminate. I think we are seeing there is a fairly vast store of these detrimental states and attitudes to draw on.
The truth is, I see so many themes and elements from such books as “Lord of the Flies”, “Animal Farm”, “The Fountainhead”, “1984”, “Brave New World”, “Atlas Shrugged”, etc., in play, I think it would surprise no one if Freddy, Jason, and Michael Meyers strolled up to the White House and took their places on the Cabinet.
